What is Large-Scale Solar
Large Scale Solar (LSS) or better known as Solar Farms – is essientially large scale implementation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to generate anywhere from hundreds to thousands of kilowatts of solar power. Other terms may include solar power plants and utility-scale solar
Advantages of Solar Farms
Solar farms generate electricity and feed it into the grid, supplying utility companies like TNB with the energy needed to power homes and business alike. Power is supplied to all customers rather than individual end-use customers. This means everyone using energy can benefit from a clean energy source.
Solar power provides many environmental benefits, including but not limited to reduction of harmful pollutants and reduction of carbon emission in comparison to fossil fuel based energy sources. Solar systems also do not require water for electricity generating unlike steam turbine power plants; hence further reducing impact to the environment.
Solar is a free and almost endless source of energy, with scientist estimating the sun would require another 5 billion years before it runs out of hydrogen. Solar energy stabilises electric prices over time as it does not require fossil fuel which market prices fluctuates over time, especially during times of crisis.
